Derek Bierly is a Systems Engineer at The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). After graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, he started his career as a Test Engineer at Textron Systems primarily working on unmanned autonomous vehicles. After four years as a test engineer, he took a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) role at APL, where he develops digital system architectures for Air Force programs.
